Quotation One

"Strength does not come from winning.
Your struggles develop your strengths.
When you go through hardships and decide not to surrender,
that is strength."
-Arnold Schwarzenegger

...This quotation describes outer strength. Arnold Schwarzenegger talks about the physical act of not giving up. He says that it does not come from winning, but from trying. Outer strength is a muscular capability of "pushing" yourself to do something.
I have read about outer strength in many of my classroom stories, such as "Bread",  The Hunger Games and Nineteen Minutes . This has inspired me to look at other pieces and learn more about my theme. The difference between the weak and the strong is clearly demonstrated in the situations the main characters find themselves in and it is the physical appearance that makes a big difference in both cases.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is an Austrian and American former bodybuilder, actor and politician. He began weight training at the age of fifteen, was awarded the title of Mr. Universe when he was twenty and won Mr. Olympian contest seven times. He has also written several books and articles on the sport.

This quote is significant to the theme because it represents the other side to the concept and shows that being strong is not just about winning. If you try your best and put everything you can into something you love to do - you will be a winner in one way or  another. Trying is already achieving more than you may think, and this is the first step to success. True outer strength is about being able to physically get back up after you are down and try again! It is about practicing and giving it your best every time, no matter how hard it is because "when you go through the hardships and decide not to surrender- that is strength"...
